San Francisco Giants. That's right, the best team in baseball playing in the best stadium
in the nation (Pacific Bell Park) with the best player in the world (Barry Bonds) and the best old
manager (Felipe Alou) leading the way. Just an all-around first class organization. With their
solid pitching, some more timely hitting, and some losses from the d-backs, they should contend
for the NL West title once again. And perhaps a triumphant return to the World Series?

San Jose Sharks. Last season was an off-year for the men in teal. Not only did they miss the
playoffs for the first time in years, they fired their best coach Darryl Sutter and traded away
their captain Owen Nolan. But the current Sharks are still young and should still be fun and
exciting to watch this upcoming season, even with the loss of Teemu Selanne to free agency.
Hopefully, guys like Patrick Marleau and Marco Sturm can step it up and carry the Sharks
back into the playoffs once again...

San Francisco 49ers. There are great expectations for the upcoming season, after such a
surprisingly good season last year. I'm still amazed at how these Niners pulled off that
come-from-way-behind victory over the NY Giants in the 1st round of the playoffs last year.
Losing Coach Mariucci to the pitiful Lions will be felt, but I think they will be just fine as long
as a healthy Jeff Garcia is throwing TD passes to a healthy Terrell Owens all season long, and
the pass defense improves from last year.

California Golden Bears. With Coach Braun at the helm, the team played very well defensively
and scored points when it mattered most. Of all the games I went to during my senior year at
Berkeley, these Bears played hard and gave it their all. Which goes to show that winning isn't
all about putting a bunch of good players together and hoping they will just mesh and play well.
